THIS 911 WTL Convertible
We are very proud to offer this beautiful and highly-desirable M491 option Carrera 3.2 convertible. Many Porsche's from this era are available for sale these days, but it is indeed very few of them that can match this cars pedigree. The story of this Porsche starts in 1988, when the car was special-ordered by an enthusiast from Belgium.
Delivered new to Belgium, this beautiful rare wide body cabriolet was finished on the 15th of July 1988 in Venetian blue over blue. It was indeed his perfect Porsche.
According to the WTL register only 2 M491 equipped convertibles were sold in Belgium during 1988. During the entire production of 3.2 911's, only 489 factory WTL convertibles were sold in Europe! As you know, being a '88 model this car is equipped with the lovely G50 gearbox; offering smooth and direct gearshifts.
The Porsche Certificate on record attests the specified options and confirms the matching numbers engine and drivetrain. The owner chose some interesting options when ordering his new 911, 'M491 - Turbolook' being the most noticeable. When new, the WTL costed 536.000 Belgian Francs in 1986; an expensive option for a car costing 1.335.000 Belgian Francs at the time! You will also find the electric soft top, the sound system and the short shift gear lever.
In the large binder with old invoices, pictures and information on the car we can find all old Belgian Titles (Carte grise); proving ownership from day one!
OWNERS
OPTIONS:
Around 2009; the owner had some work done on the wheels of the car and shortly after this intervention he lost the left rear wheel which damaged the wing and rear bumper! A repair was necessary and was then decided to do a full respray of the car. This is documented and photographed in the records. As you can imagine, the paint still looks very nice to this day. Paint measurements are very good all around the car.
As the rear spoiler delete option is not mentioned on the list; we believe that the engine cover was replaced by a regular one at one point in its lifetime but even the old photos always picture the car without the big spoiler. An original Turbo spoiler is available and also comes with the car!
The 3.2l 6-cilinder is probably the best engine Porsche built. It's a nice powerful engine that will never let you down. In this car's paperwork you'll see regular servicing; the oil is changed before selling the car. The car comes with the original toolkit, compressor, spare wheel, original manual, keycard (!) and service booklet. We can find lots of paperwork including various old Belgian titles, old pictures and a Porsche record confirming its original engine, gearbox and option list.
The Turbo-Look 911s were built in limited numbers as an upscale option to the standard Carrera. The M491 package entailed a Turbo body, brakes and wheels, fitted with a naturally aspirated Carrera engine and suspension. Finding a low mileage and high quality 911 WTL with history records has become difficult. We are noticing a remarkable shift towards younger 911's or so called young timers and the demand has only gone up during the last year.
This is a great opportunity to acquire such a car; an incredible machine and a real blast to drive!
The car currently has a Belgian registration.
